The Potcake Place

Travel + Leisure says our tropical island filled with puppies is pretty much heaven, and we agree!

Since there isn’t an animal shelter in Turks and Caicos, we are very fortunate Providenciales is home to The Potcake Place — a non-profit organization with a mission of reducing the number of homeless potcakes.

Potcake is the name given to the dogs of the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos, and these smart, loyal and loving dogs usually grow to about 45 lbs.

At The Potcake Place, there are many rescued dogs ready to be played with, walked, and even adopted. The organization helps the pups get healthy, but relies on the help of island visitors, locals and volunteers to offer companionship and socialization!

The Potcake Place is only a bike ride away from The Somerset, and many of our guests say playing with the pups is highlight of their vacation. While pets aren’t allowed at our resort, many guests enjoy taking their new four-legged, furry friends to the beach!

Adoption

Approximately 500 dogs are adopted out each year, and the adoption process is easy (and free)! All potcakes come with all their medical information, a record card of all of their shots and a health certificate.

Bringing home a potcake is a heart-warming souvenir, and you can’t find a more unique token of your treasured times than this!
