Jo Jo, Grace Bay’s Friendly Dolphin

A dolphin swimming in the sea near The Somerset on Grace Bay

Turks & Caicos is home to one of the world’s most famous dolphins, and many guests at The Somerset make it their mission to spot our friendly aquatic resident, Jo Jo.

This Atlantic Bottlenose dolphin has been swimming the seas of Grace Bay since 1980s and is known for his personable demeanor. From splashing, swimming or jumping, Jo Jo loves showing off in his natural habitat.

While this marine mammal loves to make an exhibition, it must be remembered he is still a wild animal and cannot be touched. The Turks & Caicos government places a strong focus on preserving our islands’ marine life, and Jo Jo is a symbol of this.
