Hello Tourist Day at The Somerset

Tourism is KEY, and it starts with ME.

To celebrate Caribbean Tourism Month, we partnered with the Turks and Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association to participate in their Hello Tourist Program.

Hello Tourist provides an authentic “tourist experience” for school children to learn more about the tourism industry and its importance to the Turks & Caicos economy. For the second year, The Somerset invited four schools to visit our intimate resort.

Upon arrival, the groups were greeted with luxury, as they were pampered with eucalyptus-scented, cold towels. Then after receiving their welcome letters and Somerset stamps in their “passport,” they toured the hotel, visited a suite and met some of our staff. After learning more about tourism, the kids asked plenty of questions, expressing both interest and excitement about the industry.

At the end of the day, the groups went through the check-out process and each child received a “folio” and Somerset “swag bag.” Everyone was sad to see our special guests leave, and one girl even told us it was the best day of her life.

We had a wonderful time sharing our passion with the kids and hope to participate in this program for many years to come!
